Winter Activities at Ober

One of the Smoky Mountains top winter attractions is Ober Gatlinburg! This mountaintop is full of fun and amazing scenery! There is something for everyone so we definitely recommend carving out some time during your stay to make the short trip to Ober.

Skiing and Snowboarding - Whether you are a veteran or beginner you will love hitting the slopes at Ober. They have qualified instructors that can get you down the hills in no time. You can bring your own equipment or rent everything you need there. Ski season begins around mid-December and lasts until mid-March depending on weather.

Snow Tubing - If you are looking for an easier, no experience necessary, way to get down the hills snow tubing is a blast! With 10 lanes across this 400ft hill you can race the entire family to the bottom. Just grab your tube and ride the magic carpet up to the top. Snow tubing begins the Saturday before Thanksgiving and lasts through March.

Cubbies Snow Zone - Looking to build a snowman or have a snowball fight? Your family can make wonderful winter memories playing in the snow zone.

Ice Skating Rink - Located as the centerpiece of Ober’s Indoor Mall the ice skating rink is open year around. The rink also hosts a newer attraction - Ice Bumper Boats! Ice Bumper Boats are a great way to get on the ice and not worry about staying upright.

Ober is not just for winter activities. Open 365 days a year there is fun to be had during all seasons. Year around activities include ski mountain coaster, wildlife encounter, scenic chairlift, dining, shopping and much more.

You can access Ober by car or you can take the Aerial Tramway from downtown Gatlinburg. We recommend starting your day early especially during peak seasons.
