Best Picnic Spots In Pigeon Forge

There is no better place than The Great Smoky Mountains for a picnic.  Grab your family and your favorite foods then head outdoors for beautiful scenery and a lot of fun.

To help you plan the perfect picnic we have compiled a list of a few of our favorite picnic spots.

Patriot park

Located along the river in the heart of Pigeon Forge you will find Patriot Park.  This park is the perfect setting for your family picnic.  Bring along your picnic lunch and a blanket to spread out over the grass or grab a to go lunch from Old Mill and eat at one of the picnic tables under the pavilion.

There are many things to do and see while at Patriot Park.  Take a stroll around the park to view monuments dedicated to veterans, the liberty bell replica and flags from all 50 states. Stop in at the local general store for a bag of corn or bring some quarters for the feeders to feed the ducks down by the river.  Grab a football, frisbee or kite for the kids to play in the large open field after lunch while you relax and take in the beautiful scenery.

Don’t forget dessert!  You can find your favorite ice cream flavors at Old Mill Creamery just across the street.

Cades Cove

Cades Cove is known for its peaceful valley setting and possible wildlife viewings, but it is also an amazing picnic spot. The dedicated picnic area is located at the entrance of Cades Cove Loop Road and contains 81 individual picnic sites complete with table and grill.  Bring along some hamburgers and hot dogs or pick some up at the campground store.

After lunch you can take scenic drive around the loop, a hike along the nature trail or dip your toes in the creek.

Metcalf Bottoms

Metcalf Bottoms is the ideal picnic spot for large or small groups.  There is a pavilion located at the north end of the picnic area.  With tables and seating for 70 guests you can host your outdoor family reunion or other events here.  The pavilion must be reserved in advance but there are also 122 individual first come first serve picnic tables with grills available for use.

This picnic spot is located along Little River, which is home to some of the largest brown trout in the Smoky Mountains.  Bring along your fishing gear and you might even be able to catch a fresh lunch right out of the river.

Wear Farm City

If you are looking for a way to entertain the family during your picnic look no further that Wear Farm City Park.  Conveniently located off Wears Valley Road this park benefits from two playgrounds, a basketball court, walking track and two covered pavilions.

The playgrounds are equipped with swings, slides, spinners, climbing structures, and more. Each pavilion includes lights, electrical outlets, fourteen picnic tables, and a large charcoal grill.
