Cades Cove
Cades Cove is a valley surrounded by the gorgeous Smoky Mountain range that is rich in history, hiking, scenery, and wildlife.
An 11-mile one way loop circles the cove giving you the opportunity to sightsee at a leisurely pace. You can drive the loop year around from sunrise to sunset. On Wednesdays May through September the loop road is closed to motorist making it the perfect day to take a walk or bike ride around the loop.
You can stop at the many historical buildings along the way including churches, barns, log houses and the grist mill.
There are also several hiking trails that begin off the loop road including Abrahams Falls, a spectacular five-mile round trip water fall hike.
Cades Cove is possibly one of the best spots for wildlife viewing in the Smoky Mountains. Often spotted here are white-tail deer, black bears, and wild turkey.
Bring a picnic lunch and plan to spend the day at Cades Cove so you can enjoy all the valley has to offer.
Join us on our bike ride around the loop in the video below.
It was absolutely gorgeous and wonderful to be outside surrounded by nature.
We saw 3 sets of bears (at a distance), deer and many butterflies.
The 11-mile loop took us about 2 hours to complete.
If you didn’t bring your bike on vacation no worries! They have bikes for rent just down the hill from the beginning of the loop.
